The Frontiers Science Center for Transformative Molecules (FSCTM) Approved by China's Ministry of Education on December 31, 2019, the Frontiers Science Center for Transformative Molecules (FSCTM) is a world-class research institution at the forefront of molecular science. As a direct research affiliate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), it is located on SJTU's Zhangjiang Campus, with immediate proximity to the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF). As a key component of the Zhangjiang Comprehensive National Science Center in Shanghai, FSCTM serves as a premier hub for groundbreaking molecular research.
Leveraging SJTU's academic excellence in its "Double First-Class" disciplines—including Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering, Biology, and Pharmacy—the center integrates multidisciplinary expertise to pioneer transformative advancements in molecular science. Its research focuses on four strategic domains:
Transformative Small Molecules
Transformative Macromolecules
Transformative Supramolecular Systems
Ultrafast In Situ Molecular Characterization Technologies
Led by Chief Scientist Academician Kui-Ling Ding (President of SJTU), FSCTM operates under a dual governance structure, consisting of a Management Committee and an Academic Committee composed of internationally renowned scientists.
Aligned with China's strategic priorities, FSCTM is dedicated to:
Enhancing national innovation capacity through interdisciplinary collaboration
Leading major national research initiatives
Cultivating global scientific partnerships
Developing into an internationally recognized platform for molecular research and talent development
By pursuing cutting-edge scientific breakthroughs, FSCTM aims to establish global leadership in molecular science and drive transformative discoveries with worldwide impact.
